The Project: A Big Garden Tidy-Up
For this particular visit, our team comprised of Ollie, Harry, and Flynn. Their task was simply to initiate a big garden cleanup as the space had become quite overgrown.
Overgrown gardens can often become a bit of an eyesore and a daunting task for homeowners. However, with Beechwood Tree Care, consider the problem solved.
To begin the project, our team arrives at your doorstep with their big trucks, packed with all the necessary tools and equipment to transform your garden. For this garden tidy-up project, Ollie had the responsibility of cutting back everything along the boundary, while Harry was tucked away somewhere in the border, engrossed in weeding. Flynn was engrossed in a bit of a special task.

Tackling Box Moth Caterpillars
During outdoor projects, especially those of such intensity as this garden tidy-up, we can come face-to-face with Mother Nature’s challenges.
To bring the garden back to life, Flynn was working to remove box hedges which had unfortunately succumbed to the box moth caterpillar, an increasingly common pest, and could not be revived.
In such cases, the best course of action for the landscape is complete removal as it prevents the issues from spreading elsewhere. In this garden tidy-up, these box hedges had to be completely removed.
Box moth caterpillars can be incredibly damaging to your garden or landscape, as they munch away at the box hedges. As in the case of this garden tidy-up, they often end up killing off box hedges entirely so removal is the only option.
There are various kinds of diseases and pests like this in the region which can cause issues for your landscape. This particular pest problem has been ongoing for the last five or six years and poses a considerable challenge to many homeowners.

In this garden tidy-up, removal was the best option but this did not mean a complete clearance of the garden. As you can see in the video, some of the box hedges had been munched away, but there remained some intact ones.
Our client had managed to save some of their landscape by spraying the remaining hedges with our recommended solutions, meaning Flynn didn’t have to completely remove the whole greenery and instead could focus on eradicating any diseased and damaged plants.

Another task undertaken during this garden tidy-up was the felling of a Holly tree, located in a corner by a mirror.
While many tree removal services are done because the tree is damaged beyond repair, there are some cosmetic reasons why a tree needs to be felled as with the case in this project.
The primary reason for felling the Holly tree during this project was to let more light into the space and brighten it up. More sunlight in the garden would illuminate the homeowner’s lovely swimming pool and enable them to enjoy the feature more over the weekends and days off, bringing a whole new life to the garden.
