A day on site with Beechwood Tree Care - Trimming, Pruning and Tree Felling

A Hands-on Experience with Beechwood Tree Care

In this post, we are going to take you along on a recent project handled by the Beechwood Tree Care team.

For this project, our arborists were required to perform several maintenance services, such as hedge trimming, tree pruning, and tree removal to make the landscape neat and safe for our client.

Watch Alex and the team in action as they take you through a day on-site with Beechwood Tree Care.

A Wet September Start: Pruning, Trimming And Asbestos

On a wet September morning, our seasoned tree care experts, Alex and Flynn, alongside our newest apprentice Adam, set out to perform several maintenance activities in a serene garden.

Before embarking on the day’s tasks, the team observed safety protocols by conducting a thorough risk assessment. This allows us to always stay one step ahead in ensuring not only the safety of our team but also our clients and their landscape.

The beginning of the project was focused on the main garden. Key tasks included trimming a box hedge, an annual trim for the pyracantha, and pruning back a vine and Virginia creeper.

For this initial stage, attention was also given to a wisteria tree. Our team carefully pruned the tree back by about a meter to maintain its form and ensure ongoing health growth in the future.

A particular challenge during this project was the presence of a potentially asbestos roof. This meant that extra care was taken during all of our services to avoid any contact and limit the potential risks to our team.

Midday Progress Brings Down A Cherry Tree

As the morning rolled into the afternoon, the team had made significant progress in the garden.

Our clients were particularly concerned about an old cherry tree, which had a significant fungal bracket and was severely rotted. Not only was this unsightly and ruined the impact of the overall garden, but could also lead to dangers.

Damaged and diseased trees can be a huge hazard as they weaken, leading to their collapse.  In the case of this cherry tree, it was clear that the plant had tried to compartmentalise and stave off the rot but to no avail. Despite its best efforts to save itself, the safest course of action was to remove this tree.

Once our team had securely removed the tree, additional work was needed to prevent regrowth and similar issues in the future.

For this, we treated the felled tree with eco plugs. These are capsules filled with glyphosate, a powerful herbicide and crop desiccant, to prevent any regrowth from the root system.

Working with Beechwood Tree Care not only delivers instant results for your landscape but also supports a thriving future. We work to not only clear and maintain landscapes now, but also ensure that trees continue to thrive. Our team is committed to delivering long-term results and ensuring the safety of our clients across the region.

Ongoing Teamwork: Pruning And Hedge Trimming

As the cherry tree was removed and the stump treated to prevent regrowth, Flynn and Alex were taking care of other areas of the garden.

Throughout this process, Flynn was kept busy with the hedge cutting which tackled the overground foliage. Through his precision, the pyracantha and box were neatened to enhance the visual appeal of the landscape.

At the same time as this, Alex tackled the overgrown wisteria. As you can see in the video, he opted for a more natural look to this hedge by using a pair of secateurs instead of a hedge cutter to prune the overgrown branches.

Wrapping Up A Productive Day

Beechwood Tree Care is committed to delivering results that wow. As our team takes in their work on this project, they can be proud of their progress.

The landscape is now drastically different to the garden we began with. As you can see in the video, the intense work of Fynn and Alex ensured that the box hedge and pyracantha were neat and tidy.

Likewise, the once-rotting cherry tree has been successfully removed by our team. Regrowth is prevented by the eco plug treatment, allowing our client to rest assured that their landscape will remain safe and disease-free for a long time.

In the spirit of leaving places better than we found them, we spent some time ensuring the site was tidy. We not only tidied away our tools, but any debris, branches and foliage that cluttered the space.

All packed and satisfied with our day’s work, our team left this garden in a safer, neater state.
