Woodland Restoration Project: Supporting Local Environments

At Beechwood Tree Care, we are committed to long-term results and this woodland restoration project is a perfect example. In this, Neil and the team are thrilled to share our ongoing work in local woodlands where we have been restoring the health and beauty of the land for several years.

This ambitious project is one our team is very passionate about and continues to work on to ensure long-term support of local landscapes. We continue to renovate and support this woodland to contribute to a thriving ecosystem that the whole region can enjoy.

Woodland Restoration Project

Project Overview: Tree Removal And Forming Pathways

Beechwood Tree Care has been working on this woodland restoration project for several years now and continues to support the local ecosystem with our services.

We have been continually working to remove invasive tree species from the land so that remaining plants and wildlife can thrive. Our tree removal and site clearance have also made it easier for us to create pathways in the woodland, allowing local residents to explore the beauty right on their doorstep.

Our professional arborists deliver a range of outstanding solutions to enhance the appeal and accessibility of this space, while also supporting a healthier ecosystem. Our efforts are ongoing and deliver visible results, such as native flora and fauna returning to the woodland each season.

Removing Invasive Species For Woodland Restoration

One of the main tasks of this woodland restoration project has been the clearing of invasive species. These plants and trees had been allowed to grow undisturbed in the woodland for years, causing issues to the surrounding environment and the wildlife present.

Throughout this woodland restoration project, our tree surgeons have worked diligently to clear and remove invasive species – specifically the overgrown Rhododendron and Laurel. These were removed using our big track chipper and 360-mulcher which creates an efficient tree removal and stump processing.

By clearing these two overgrown species, we significantly opened up the woodland and created a more accessible area for hikers and nature lovers to explore.

The clearing of these invasive species has also allowed other native plants to thrive, as well as provide better habitats for local wildlife. With more space in the woodland, our team can introduce and cultivate native flora and trees which better serve the wider ecosystem.

Wood Chip Pathways For Public Access

Beechwood Tree Care are committed to responsible environmental practices and we will always endeavour to make the best use of waste tree materials.

Following the removal of Laurel and other invasive species, the woodland had opened up. This made the landscape more accessible, and our team enhanced this with the creation of public access walkways.

Using the chipped Laurel which had previously been removed from the landscape, our team created inviting and accessible pathways for the public to use when exploring this beautiful environment. We have created a natural, yet visibly appealing and accessible, solution to the woodland’s accessibility and encourage locals to explore the wildlife around them.

A Big Achievement: Preserving Native Species And Wildlife Habitats

As well as making the space more inviting for people, this woodland restoration project has transformed the landscape into a better habitat for wildlife and native plants.

The Beechwood Tree Care team is incredibly proud of their transformation of a dead sequoia into a monolith in this woodland restoration. Our work now means that there is a healthy habitat and nesting area for our feathered friends in the woodland, which significantly contributes to the ongoing health of local ecosystems.

Not only have we created new habitats for local wildlife, but our team was careful to position these new areas away from the public pathways to ensure the safety of all woodland visitors.

Birds are not the only part of local wildlife that our team has supported during this woodland restoration project, as native trees are given a better chance too. It is part of our mission to preserve this woodland and ensure it is an engaging space for all forms of local wildlife, including plants and trees.

With our team’s commitment to transforming the space and their careful restoration, Beechwood Tree Care has successfully cultivated native trees such as Yews and allowed them to take centre stage in this environment.

The Final Result And Our Future Commitment

While a large portion of this woodland restoration project was spent on removing and clearing trees, some fallen trees remain in the woodland to create natural climbing frames for visitors. By engaging young people in nature through fun and active means, we can arm the next generation with a passion for wildlife conservation and make our region a better place to be.

Any remaining stumps have been grounded to prevent regrowth and limit the risk to hikers or other natural explorers. A lot of work has been done to restore this woodland, but we are not finished just yet.

The Beechwood Tree Care team will continue to sweep out and create woodland tracks, so the space remains accessible. We will also continue our cultivation of wildlife and vegetation, ensuring the woodland thrives and delivers better support to local ecosystems.

Thanks to our work throughout this woodland restoration project, the space now boasts a pond, thriving vegetation and local wildlife, as well as being a light-filled accessible space people of all ages can enjoy. This project is a testament to our commitment to preserving local environments and the quality of service delivered by our team.
