Our experts have a deep understanding of what is likely to be approved, which can vary by LPA, and have a proven track record of obtaining TPO permissions where others have not succeeded.
“Beechwood Tree Care assisted us in obtaining permission to remove a tall, unsafe protected tree from our small garden”
At Beechwood Tree Care, we recognise that every customer and tree is unique. We have a deep understanding of what is likely to be approved by your Local Planning Authority (LPA), which can vary widely, which is why we don’t offer a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, we tailor our service to meet your specific needs.
We believe it is crucial to have a conversation first when dealing with TPOs, as we need to know:
Our experienced surveyors will meet with you and listen to your desired results. We’ll advise you on the best course of action that is likely to be approved, while also ensuring your desired results are achieved. (Please note that you may need a tree report to support your application).
Based on these discussions, we’ll agree on a suitable specification for both you and your tree that is highly likely to be granted permission.
We will create a free bespoke quotation summarising the discussed work and email it to you. Your quotation will include a detailed description of the works, along with photos and videos to clarify the specifications.
You will have access to our online portal, where you can view, ask questions, and accept your quotation.
A copy of our insurance will be included with your quotation, and other documentation, such as Risk Assessments, are available upon request.
The Beechwood Tree Care team will manage the whole process, including obtaining any relevant information and providing the required documentation. You will be kept informed every step of the way.
We will strive to make your experience with Beechwood a frictionless and pleasant one.
Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) are issued by local planning authorities (LPA) in England to protect trees, groups of trees, or woodlands. A TPO prohibits cutting down, topping, lopping, uprooting, or damaging a tree without written permission from the planning authority.
Breaching a TPO can result in court action and fines. You may apply for permission to perform reasonable work on a tree, but you must provide valid reasons. The LPA’s tree officer typically assesses these applications.
We understand the process can be frustrating. Most tree officers are passionate about trees and the environment. In the English planning system, trees can be a contentious issue. What seems reasonable to you, such as leaf drop, light blockage, or potential hazards, may not be viewed favourably by a tree officer.
Their role is to protect trees, and they often face complaints or harassment for doing their job. After years of handling unreasonable requests, tree officers may default to “no” unless you can prove a tree is unsafe, which can be challenging.
Let Beechwood Tree Care take the stress away and obtain permission for you.
